Chicago XY Sessions - Casey

Thanks to the gents who responded so far to the Winter XY Open Call. Braving the erratic weather and trekking throughout the city was well worth it.

-CASEY-

Casey is a recent graduate of  the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Urban and Regional Planning. A native of Evanston, he believes Chicago is the best place for professional urban planning experiences.

When his motivation strays for fresh inspiration, Casey turns to photography. He enjoys analog photography and was an avid member during UIUC VAMP's beginnings. "Photos are the way for me to share my views on the world and life, as well as visualizing the great works before me." A documentary style can be seen in the way he confronts Chicago in all of its aspects - segregation, culture, community, the individual, and the built environment. "Everyday I’m expanding my portfolio of photos, research of past and present thinkers, and writings on my city planning blog, Built People."

To further his understanding of people and their urban spaces, Casey hopes to visit and engage local governments in a number of cities in the East Coast, West Coast, and even places abroad. As he continues his personal endeavors, Casey is led by a belief phrased best by Albert Camus: "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."
